A train journey after ages…

I don’t know when was the last time i took up a train journey… Probably during the Chennai-Hyderabad or the post-Chennai days…. Anyways, that was ages ago and those were overnight journeys… Never been on any train trip since i moved to Delhi… Delhi-Kerala train journey takes almost 48 hours; means two full days in a train… I always hated train journeys…. the dirty toilets, the noisy co-passengers, the annoying and noisy vendors… everything irritate me… To me, a germaphobe, a train a abode of all kinds of germs in this planet…

Anyways… after a long exhausting summer this year in Delhi, this time i decided to go home in train taking seriously the advices to save money… 48 hrs, i thought i could make it… Sleep, eat less and drink less, i can make it… Was all motivated when i started…
The start
The start was killing… I was planning for a long trip south covering Bangalore and home… Since i have no skill what-so-ever to pack light, i ended up moving with heavy bags till the metro exit… The journey from the metro exit to the seat was horrible… There was no coolie to carry the luggage to the exit… those guys were standing at the exit only… and exit gates to a railway station was without any escalators or lifts… People exiting via the station exit gate definitely will be going to catch a train… and they will be will be with heavy luggage bags and boxes… There was not even a lift outside… I carried all those 4-6 pieces of baggage to come out… It was a horrible experience… one of my worse experience in train journeys…
The annoyance
One thing which annoys me when i am travelling the stare-scare crows… Some people can’t stop staring at others… there was one stare crow sitting across me in the beginning… thank God he moved to another seat later…
And then there were the usual annoyance: Visitors from far and wide… i cant understand why people move so much around to annoy others, the loud music from somebody’s phone or laptop… ok, i get you enjoy some music.. but i am not into your kind of music… so keep it down, and the people with truck load of luggage… i think people travel in train when they are moving their house… they carry so much luggage nobody else in the compartment have place even to keep their feet down…
My safe place
Thank God, i had the upper berth…  i spent most of the time up away from the buzz around, literally counting down the hours enjoying the book i got, a readers’ digest and lots of music and videos…  That was weird for my usual lifestyle of being active and moving around… But, that was my only way to be at peace away from the germs and annoying people…
The only thing i wanted to work better was the internet connectivity…. The MTS connection was useless… how much they advertise ‘roaming-free’… But as soon as i was out of the Delhi/NCR, the connection was down and i struggled to get a proper connection with my mobile internet which was fluctuating and slow as snail…
 The fruit vendors
Eventhough the usual pantry people annoys me with lots of their arrogance and attitude, the local vendors (not the useless-merchandise sellers) always fascinated me… Saw a calm banana seller… another lady with a basketful of fruits… I can picture them coming from their villages and hoping into trains as they pass by to see the fruits…

Welcome home, Juby
The only times i got down and sat around the seats were the 3rd day morning… It was not just because, many people had got off and the place was quieter, but it was also the sight outside… the sight of rainy, green Kerala… nothing more refreshing than that sight…
Welcome home Juby… have some peace here…

The ride from the station to home was peaceful… a ride in rain… bliss… Then home, long shower, solid food (after surviving 3 days on bread, cookies and biscuits), high-speed wifi…. i was home…
